RODNEY LEE VANCE

RODNEY LEE VANCE, 49, of MILLTOWN, New Jersey, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Bethesda, Md., he was raised in Monroe
Township and Spotswood before moving to Milltown in 2004. Mr. Vance was a toll
collector for the New Jersey Turnpike for the last 19 years. He was an avid freshwater
fisherman, a supporter and participant of the Spotswood Chargers, as well as a
member of the Planetary Society. He was also a congregant of the United Methodist
Church of Cranbury. He was predeceased by his father, Earl Howard Vance, in 1970.
He is survived by his children, Melissa Vance of West Virginia, and Jonathan Vance
of Milltown; his mother and stepfather, Thelma Vance-Alm and Donald Alm of Toms
River; and a brother, Randy Vance of Old Bridge New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Eckman Funeral Home,
475 Main St., Spotswood. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral
home. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Rodney's memory may be made to the
American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
